And the Results Are In!

I passed the 3 hour glucose test!!! YAY!!! After fasting (nothing but water after 12am), I went into the dr's office w/ high hopes to pass. However...it wasn't the easiest. My first prick of the day, the glucose level was good. Then the drink comes....the nurse had the lemon/lime flavor out and ready, but when she asked me if I would prefer another flavor, I quickly suggested the SUNKIST one. After getting it all down before my 3 minute time limit, she asked that I wait in one of the 2 waiting rooms - but I had better plans...to go and visit a good friend who also works at the hospital. After visiting, I went back to the waiting room to wait the remainder of the hour out and all of a sudden, I got so sick to my stomach. I rushed to the restroom to get a cold towel to wash my face w/ and try to get some relief, but as soon as I got in there, I got even sicker. When I finally got back to nurse for the finger prick, she could see in my face (the blood-shot eyes, tears, and paleness) that I wasn't feeling good. Apparently it happens sometimes...I just wish it wouldn't have happened to me. All in all - the levels at both finger pricks were fine and it was declared by the dr that I had passed. YAY!!!
After the test was completed, I went to the hospital to see Daddy before his surgery. I was so thankful that everything went well and glad that he's doing so well. Last night before I had left, he could tell the difference in his knee and the numbness had already subsided and was a lot better. He's coming home today and I hope and pray that his back and leg pain continues to improve.

Due to the new floors coming in this week, Jamie and I have been able to clean out our closets and go through the clothes. As a result, I had dropped off 6-33 gal garbage bags full of clothes and 3 boxes of toys at the Salvation Army! I hope that someone can find some good use out of all that was given.

Last Friday, the kindergarten class had breakfast w/ Santa. Here are a few pics from that day.

This pic was taken while Jack was working on a craft in the classroom. If you're wondering if he's wearing PJ's, you're right. All the lil' ones had PJ's on - as so did the teachers. Everyone was so cute decked out in their colorful PJ's.

I hope that every one's Christmas Wish comes true this year as I believe that mine has. Please be safe during your travels and enjoy the time w/ your family.

Merry Christmas!

24 week check-up

24 weeks, 3 days

24 week check-up/glucose screening: and of course...i failed the glucose screening! WOW! Again and I was sure to pass it this go around. So, I'll be back to the Dr's office early Monday morning for the beloved 3 hour test. :-( All in all - the dr. was pleased w/ how things are progressing and so far I've only gained 7 pounds (and that is by my scale!) I'm getting some relief from the heartburn thanks to the Pepcid and the vitamins and fish oil aren't bothering me as much as they used to. I have been to the chiropractor due to my right hip being so sore, but he suggested some exercises to help stretch the muscles and relieve some of the pain. I know that it's not gonna go away over night, but it's better. I feel as if I'm carrying much lower w/ this pregnancy and I believe that it's being a contribution to the hip soreness. Could it get better? Doubt it....I'm only gonna get bigger. :-0

Things have been pretty constant around here. There are so many things going on right now: Christmas, school (which will let out Friday for Christmas vacation), and the hopes of getting a new floor installed next week. We have decided to go ahead and take up the carpet in our bedroom and replace the floor and the floors in the bathroom, den, and kitchen. After that project is completed, I'm hoping of getting lil' Ava's crib set up. The armoire needs some shelves installed and to also be sanded and either stained or painted.

As of the continuation of the "to-do" list, I've got to finish cleaning out everything in preparation for the new floors, finish addressing the Christmas cards and getting them out before the mad rush at the post office (my daddy-in-law knows about that!) and enjoy the Christmas spirit that is floating around.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving Feast at School!

Last Friday, Jack's class (along w/ all the other kindergarten classes) prepared a Thanksgiving Feast for lunch. For our class, parents were asked to gather all the ingredients for certain dishes and come to help prepare the meal. We had chicken and dressing, sweet potato casserole, a rice/corn dish, (sorry Amanda, I can't remember what it was called), fruit salad, and turkey sandwiches. Everything was wonderful! The kids really enjoyed being able to participate in the dirty work of preparing the meal - they are some wonderful helpers!

Jack stirring up the dressing!
While the food was cooking, the children done 2 crafts. One being a turkey necklace and the other being a stocking to go on a door at the nursing home! After we ate and crafted, the children were asked to put on the costumes that they made (which were Pilgrims and Indians) and then they all gathered to sings Thanksgiving tunes for the parents. They were all so cute! :-)

...was great. As usual...I ate way too much but it was worth every bite! Here are some random pics that were taken at Nanny's house.

I hope that each and every one of you had a great Thanksgiving. Have a good weekend!

Ultrasound Pics and an Update!

Here are a few of the ultrasound pics that I promised you.

I Love the way she is stretching out in this pic. She was constantly moving and opening and closing her mouth. At one point, she even poked her lil' lips out...just like Jack does now!

If you look closely, you can see her lil' hand right beside her head.

After much explaining, Jamie was finally convinced that she is a she! When the ultrasound first started, we both thought we seen a lil' boy part, but it turned out to be the umbilical cord in between her lil' legs.
All in all, the visit went wonderfully. The ultrasound technician guesstimated her weight to be 15 oz already and that she was predicting that lil' Miss Ava will be bigger than Jack. Jack's birth weight (which he was born at 39 weeks gestation) was 8lbs even. The way things are going here, we may need to skip the newborn clothes and just start w/ 0-3 months! My weight gain has been very small...probably around 3-4 pounds. With Jack, I only gained 17 pounds the whole pregnancy!
As of Jack, he seems to be thrilled to be getting a baby sister. He went to school Tuesday anticipating our Dr's appointment and told all his friends and teachers that we were going to be able to find out what the baby was. By the time I got to school to pick him up on Wednesday, all the teachers had heard the news and congratulated me. :-)

Well, the news is...

....we're are having a GIRL!!!!! I'm so excited! :-D I'm gonna have the perfect lil' family, my lil' boy and lil' girl. Her name: Ava Grace. Something simple, short, sweet, old fashioned, elegant, just what a lil' girl should be.

It's late and I'm anxious to post pics, but I'll post some of our lil' one tomorrow.

Thanks to all who tap in to read the posts and try to stay updated.

The Big Question!

"Do you know what you're having?"

The Answer: We will tomorrow! (or at least I hope!) :-) and we can't wait. I'll post my 20 week prego pic and the results as soon as I can! Do any of you have any guesses?

On another note, I would like to ask for everyone who's reading this to please keep my grandfather in your prayers. He is 91 years old and has Alzheimer's. When my daddy got up at 5:30 this morning to go to work, Poppaw was no where to be found. After making sure he wasn't in the house, the search went outside where he was found several minutes later in the garden, cold, wet, but alert. The only clothing he had on was his pajamas, socks, and the toboggan that he always wears to bed. It wasn't until he was brought inside that he began to act sluggish and not as alert that raised concerns. Of course 911 was called and he was transported to the hospital where the physicians and nurses worked on him to slowly bring his temperature and vitals up. The lowest temperature that I know of him sustaining was 86, but I believe that was taken after arriving to the ER. There's no telling what it was while he was outside in the cold and frost. As of this afternoon, his vitals were still good, however his heart rhythm was irregular and staying in the high 30's, low 40's. To make things worse is that he just got out of the hospital last Thursday because he had double pneumonia and is still in the process of recovering from that.

So please, when you say your prayers tonight, please be sure to throw a lil' comfort prayer in there for my grandfather, Poppaw Frank. My family would greatly appreciate it.

Last Saturday...

...the nice, lil' Walmart Toy Guide came in through the mail and you would've thought that it was the greatest thing on earth. Jack has studied this book for several days, circling everything that he would like to get for Christmas and then some. I told him that there was no way that Santa could bring it all because there are so many children out in the world that would like to have toys just as he desires them.

The past few years, I've been trying to work w/ Jack in giving to others. Every few months we are in his room going through toys that he no longer plays w/ and put them in a box for them to go to the Baptist Center or to the Salvation Army. When doing this, I explain to him that the reason we are giving the toys to other children is because some children aren't able to get the toys that he has had and that they would love to have such cool toys. You wouldn't believe his participation in this and I'm hoping that doing this will allow him to grow up to be such a loving and giving young man and to help others no matter what.

My plan for the next few weeks is to declutter the house in attempt to make room for the new addition to our family. I'm hoping and praying that one day, my house will be as organized as Martha Stewart's. YEAH RIGHT! Being close would be more like it. I'm also hoping and praying for the strength to close my eyes and put it in the box. I know that there is so much in this house that we don't need or haven't used in a while, so why keep it? Others may have better use for the stuff and if so, they are more welcomed to it.

Nothing much has been going on....

...since my last blog w/ the exception that my belly's getting bigger and the lil' one that's occupying it has been kicking a lil' more. It's been basically the same ole' stuff everyday...nothing extraordinary.

However, we did manage to work in a movie night during the weekend and have to say that the movie was really good. It was so much better for the guy sitting behind us....he was laughing uncontrollably during the whole movie. :)

On other things....I'm now 19 weeks and 1 day prego! We're so excited to see this baby next week and let's pray that he/she cooperates and allows us to see what he/she is. You can get an idea of the size of the lil' one from the picture below. I can't believe that I'm almost half way thru this pregnancy, but yet it seems as if time is passing by so slow. But the end will be here before I know it and then I'll be wondering, "Where did the time go?"

Here is a pic of me at 19 weeks pregnant.

Ok a few more pics to add to post. I had an engagement session at the Pickensville Visitors Center and I managed to get my lil' family dressed up for a "family picture". Here are just a few pics that were taken yesterday.

And last...Jack learned how to drive the tractor! He's growing up way too fast. Here are a few pics of him helping his daddy and if you look close, you can see that Jack is driving the tractor with his feet! :)

No need to explain the lack of blogging....it's always the same ole' story.

But here are some pics of what's been going on lately.

Today - I'm 17 weeks/5 days prego! This pic was taken yesterday before an outing to Tuscaloosa!

I've been feeling pretty good, minus the sinus crud that's been hanging around since...FOREVER! The lil' one's been moving around a lil' bit here and there and in lil' over 2 weeks, we'll be able to see if it's a boy or girl. YAY!!! Jack is so excited. However, the coming up with names has turned out to be more of an ordeal than I had imagined. I like a name...Jamie doesn't. What I'm looking for is something simple, short, old-fashioned, etc....nothing complicated. Any suggestions?

A special thanks to all of those who helped out, especially to Gran'Daddy and Uncle Ray.
